This Week’s Collection of Good Design

There is all sorts of goodness in this week’s collection of Designing Good. I am noticing a large crop of newly formed carbon reduction sites springing up as can be seen with One Billion Bulbs, Local Cooling and one ton co2 - it will be interesting to see which ones make it and which ones bite the dust.

By far, the coolest link is the one shot stool - awesome piece of industrial design.

Enjoy the links.

one ton co2
Buy a T-Shirt and offset one ton of co2.
ARTECNICA?S SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING
Loads of good stuff.
Miele LiquidWash
Amazingly nice washing machine that is eco-friendly. Laundry has never been so sexy.
One Billion Bulbs
Sign up, buy some bulbs and save the world.
Local Cooling
Not so much visual design, but software design. Help cool your computer and save carbon emissions.
Pedal Powered Laptop
I cannot emphasize enough how much I could use this in my life…
ONE SHOT STOOL by Materialise
Easily the coolest piece of furniture I’ve seen all year. Big kudos.
U.K.’s First Recycled Kitchen
Very nice to see - I’m hoping this catches on further in the U.K. and beyond.
Handmade Adaptable Baby Furniture
Seriously, the baby product industry is the biggest guilt-peddling, crap-making group of swindlers on the planet. It’s good to see rational alternatives beginning to hit the market.
The Cardboard Revolution
Dude, awesome stuff. Go cardboard!
Xerox Developing Erasable Paper
So damned smart I think it kind of hurts.
Furoshiki: Traditional Japanese Cloth Wrapping
I must admit, I am a major sucker for Japanese design - that is why I am really into this product as it appeals to my love of all things from Japan and it is enviro-friendly.
SUSTAINABLE STYLE SUNDAY: Holiday Gift Bags
Some pretty sweet hand bags (if you’re into that sort of thing). This year, stay out of Coach in order to save the world (and an arm and a leg).
