Lost: Numbers

The Numbers in Lost are significant, but we really don't know why. I was looking over the notes I had made on this show over the summer and found a list that I had created where the numbers were coming up. Here's some of the notable ones I had:

  • Danielle's notes contain the numbers and she used these numbers to arrive at the island (Numbers)
  • Each number on the girls' soccer team in the airport as Hurley rides past (Exodus)
  • Entered into the Swan hatch computer (Adrift)
  • Hurley used these to win the lottery (Numbers)
  • Hurley's car displayed these numbers: the speedometer (16 to 15 to 8 to 4), the temperature (23C) and odometer (42) (Exodus)
  • LAPD police car numbers (Two for the Road)
  • Leonard repeated the sequence in the mental hospital (Numbers)
  • Medicine vials: Desmond’s and Claire’s (Orientation and Maternity Leave)
  • On the Blast Door of the Swan (Lockdown)
  • Swan hatch entrance (Exodus)
  • Flight 815 hatch door and the seat numbers for passengers (I know, not all the numbers are used for seats but I thought more seat numbers were going to come up at some point):
    • 23A - Jack
    • 23D - Rose
    • 23E - Bernard
    • 42F - Ana-Lucia
Aside from the Valenzetti equation, I have no idea what they mean.
